WHAT IS UMRAH?
A Sacred Journey of the Heart
Umrah is the blessed pilgrimage to the Holy Kaaba in Mecca, where Muslims enter into a state of Ihram, perform Tawaf around the Kaaba, complete Sa’i between Safa and Marwah, and conclude with Halq or Taqsir.
It is a Sunnah of Muhammad ﷺ and carries immense reward.
The Prophet ﷺ said in Sahih al-Bukhari:
“The performance of Umrah is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the previous one, and the reward of Hajj Mabrur is nothing except Paradise.”
Umrah in Ramadan
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said (reported in Sunan Ibn Majah):
“Umrah during Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj.”
